Ordering
I need to ship a gift, do you have an online shop?
Yes! You can place an order anytime in our
online shop for shipping nationwide.
Iʼm in Los Angeles, how do I order?
Unless you want your LA order FedExʼd, you cannot use our online shop to place a local order for pick up or delivery (our online shop requires that you select a FedEx shipping option). You may place your order via email (hello [at] thebakelab.com) or telephone (310.330.9055). For special or custom orders, please contact us directly via email or telephone. Once we receive your order, we will contact you to set up pick up or delivery and confirm your total and payment options.
Can I pick up my order from your kitchen? Do you deliver?
You are welcome to pick up your order from our commercial kitchen, located near LAX. We also offer delivery, and charge based on the distance from our kitchen to the delivery location.
Our kitchen is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. With advance notice, it is sometimes possible to arrange for pick up or delivery on these days.
Can I come to the Bakelab and see whatʼs for sale today?
Unfortunately we do not yet have a storefront. Everything is made to order at our commercial kitchen, and we cannot keep products in stock for immediate purchase. Many orders require only 24 hours advance notice, and we can often fill orders for popular items the same day.
Can I visit a store to try your sweets?
Yes! In Los Angeles, please visit the 3 locations of
Yummy.com,
Oaks Gourmet in Franklin Village,
Venokado in West Hollywood,
FOOD+LAB, and, if youʼre seeing a play, the
Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.
How much advance notice do you need for my order?
Cookies: 24 hours
All brownies & magic bars: 24 hours
Cheesecake bars, banana cream pie bars, s'mores bars: 48 hours
Coconut Clouds: 24 hours
Cupcakes: 48 hours
Cakes: 72 hours
Pies: 48 hours
Eep! I need some last-minute sweets, can you help?
We do our best to accommodate last-minute orders, but it is not always possible. However, popular items such as cookies, brownies, oatmeal cream pies, and Coconut Clouds can often be ready for pick up with same-day notice, so it doesnʼt hurt to ask! We also offer overnight shipping via FedEx.
Payment & Shipping
How do I pay for my order?
If you are using our
online shop, you will be prompted to enter a credit card. For local LA orders with pick up or delivery, we accept cash, checks, and Visa/Mastercard/ Discover/Amex.
Do you ship?
Yes! We ship nationwide via our
online shop. Currently, we cannot ship cakes, cupcakes, or pies. Our online shop only accepts US addresses; please contact us directly regarding shipping to other locales.
How long will my sweets take to reach me?
When you are placing your order, your shipping options and time estimates will be displayed. We ship nationwide via FedEx, and offer a variety of options, including Overnight, Express Saver, and inexpensive Ground shipping for the west coast. We ship on Mondays and Tuesdays to ensure packages wonʼt sit in a warehouse over the weekend. We can ship on Wednesday and Thursday if Overnight shipping is selected.
Will my sweets still be fresh when they reach me?
Yes! Our
online shop contains products specially chosen to hold up well in shipping and maintain freshness. All our sweets arrive individually wrapped and sealed to ensure freshness. We do not use preservatives (and wouldnʼt even know where to get them or how to use them!).
Product, allergen & shelf-life information
How should I store my sweets? What is the shelf life of your products?
Sweets will keep best when stored in a cool, dry place. Never refrigerate cookies! It dries them out very quickly. Brownies, bars, and Coconut Clouds may be refrigerated, but it is NOT necessary. Our cookies will stay soft and chewy for about 5 days, when in their packages. Brownies and bars will keep up to 2 weeks in their packages if refrigerated. Coconut Clouds will stay dreamy about 10 days in their packages. Cupcakes are best kept in an airtight container and may be refrigerated; they will be good for about 3-4 days.
I have a nut/soy/gluten allergy!
Since we use shared equipment, we cannot guarantee that our products have not come into contact with an allergen. We work in a kitchen that makes products that may contain wheat/gluten, dairy, soy, chocolate, eggs, and peanuts and tree nuts.
Are any of your products vegan or gluten-free?
No, right now we do not produce any sweets that are vegan or gluten free.
Custom orders, events & wedding / party favors
Do you make wedding cakes? Favors?
We do not offer wedding cakes, but LOVE making wedding and party favors! We will work with you to choose the perfect thank-you sweets for your event. We can wrap them with your colors and specifications, or help you design them from scratch (the only thing we love more than baking is design!). Weʼre also happy to help you with candy-based favors too (you wonʼt hurt our feelings).
Do you do custom orders and corporate gifts?
YES! We love the creativity that comes with working on customized sweets. From simple custom gifts to wedding and party favors to full dessert tables, we will work with you to fulfill your sweet vision. We can also facilitate ordering custom printed ribbon, rubber stamps, and tags or labels, and also offer design services.
Can you cater our party or event?
Yes! Bakelab can sweeten up everything from intimate parties to cozy affairs for 500 of your closest friends! You may order from our menu or we can work with you to create a menu that fits your event. We will deliver sweets to the event site but do not offer waitstaff or clean up. We are happy to help set up a lovely table for an additional charge. Bakelab can also design custom-set displays and dessert tables.
Miscellany
I LOVE your website!
Thank you! Our site is the work of artist
Breanne Trammell, the designer of all things Bakelab that arenʼt edible! (And no, thatʼs not a template - that lovely layout is coded by hand!) Breanne has been with Bakelab from the beginning and has a keen eye for translating the idea of Bakelab into beautiful visuals.
Thank you for being so awesome!
Youʼre welcome!
